Why PADI Open Water?

As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, the most widely recognized
and respected rating in the world, you have the freedom to dive with
a buddy independent of a professional.

If you already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are
PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how
credit from these courses may apply to the open water program.

What is a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center?

A PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center (5 Star IDC) is a dive center that not only meets all 5 Star Dive Center standards, but also offers PADI Instructor-level training. A PADI 5 Star IDC offers dive consumers programs to fulfill their educational goals from entry-level training up through instructor-level certifications.

Having a PADI Course Director on staff indicates the 5 Star IDC’s commitment to offering instructor development programs and continuing education opportunities to dive professionals. By offering PADI Instructor-level training, a PADI 5 Star IDC takes on the responsibility of developing PADI Instructors.

Forest City Scuba offers a wide range of scuba diving courses for the novice to the advanced diver. All courses are taught by a trained PADI-certified professional and are sure to get you hooked on this increasingly popular sport!

Please contact us for more information on a specific course or see the calendar to find out the next course date.

(November 2019 – April 2020)

The PADI Open Water course is divided into three parts:

  1. classrom
  2. confined water (pool)
  3. and four actual water scuba dives with a qualified instructor.

Because our mid-west weather does not allow us to do the open water portion of this class, it will be deferred until mid-May or you may wish to join us on one of our warm-water trips to complete your open water dives. Add-on for Open Water Training Dives with Forest Scuba is $85.00.

We offer two options with our group winter courses. You may wish to enroll in our Week-End Accelerated Class, or our slower paced Week-Night class.
